Travel
We know that going to Italy is a long way for everyone (no locals at this wedding!), and we are so grateful to all of you for your efforts in making the trip. We want to help make travel planning as easy as possible, and are happy to provide any tips and tricks we have to offer.
General Travel Info
Volare!!
LOCATION: We are getting married at Villa Cimbrone in the town of Ravello on the Amalfi Coast!
PASSPORTS: First and foremost, grab those passports and double check the expiration date - if they expire in the next year, we recommend jumping on getting them renewed a-sap!
TRAVEL TO ITALY: American citizens do not need a visa to visit Italy for stays of up to 90 days. However, starting in 2025, travelers must apply for an ETIAS travel authorization before entering Italy or other European countries. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates. For more information about Etias, click here.
Additionally, 2025 is a Jubilee Year in Italy, a special event that draws visitors from around the world, for this reason we strongly recommend advance bookings in hotels.
RAVELLO: The charming town of Ravello where we are getting married is pedestrian-only. This means that all cars, buses, and mopeds can come to the edge of the village for drop-off, and then you’ll take a short walk to your hotel in town. Most hotels in the town have valets who come to the edge of town to carry your luggage for you, and some have designated parking for rental cars (call the hotel or check online to confirm they have parking before booking a rental car). All Ravello hotels listed below are within a 15 minute walk of our wedding venue Villa Cimbrone. Walking around the town is dreamy, though hilly at times, so we recommend comfortable footwear for exploring and travel days!
Airports
We recommend flying into Naples, Italy, and then taking a taxi or arranging a car service through your hotel to drive you to Ravello (a 1 hour and 15 minute drive). Please see the next block below for a note about rental cars, car services, and transportation.
-
This is the closest major airport to Ravello. From the United States, there are direct flights to Naples from New York and Philadelphia.
-
Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is a 3.5/4 hour drive from Ravello. We recommend taking a connecting flight from FCO to NAP, and then arranging a taxi or car service to drive you to Ravello.
You can also take the train from Rome to Naples (a 1 hour and 20 minute trip), and then get a taxi or car service from Naples to Ravello.
-
If you are flying from the United States through an alternate European airport, we recommend looking for connections to NAP wherever possible.
Rental Cars and
Car Services
We strongly do not recommend renting a car, as the roads around the Amalfi Coast are not for the faint of heart. Many hotels are happy to arrange a taxi or car service for you, or you are welcome to reach out to Alessandra Stefani of our wedding planning team to arrange a ground transfer from the airport (email: alessandra@exclusiveitaly.it). It is also easy to get around the Amalfi Coast by public bus or taxi service (although taxi rides longer than 20 minutes can get pricey).
If you are looking to travel to the town of Amalfi from Ravello, we recommend taking the public bus (a 20 minute ride and 2 euros per ticket).
If you are looking to travel to Positano from Ravello, we recommend arranging a car service.
Accommodations
We have secured room blocks at 4 hotels in Ravello for your convenience. Please see hotel options below, and if you would like to book one, please reach out to Alessandra Stefani of our wedding planning team to complete the booking process (email: alessandra@exclusiveitaly.it). If you are booking a room in one of the room blocks, please book your stay no later than February 28, 2025. You are welcome to stay in the town of Amalfi for the first two nights if you prefer, though we strongly recommend staying in Ravello on the night of the wedding, as you will have a tricky time getting home in the wee hours of the morning if you are not staying in town!
